Mexican Beaded not doing good .

monkeyb00gers Jan 20, 2012 06:05 PM

I purchased 3 Mexican Beaded's last July . I have them all in a 150 gallon/wide tank . My temps are good but I have had some regurgitate probs lately . One of my beaded's is in bad shape . His front legs won't move . I met one of the Doc's from the University Of Tn. at a local pet shop . He told me to buy some liquid calcium & electrolyte & vitamin d3 . He gave him a dose today but I have never had this problem . The other two are doing great . Any advice will be appreciated . My temps are 90 h & 78 low .

I know anyone who can help will ask these questions.

How are you measuring temps?

What is the humidity levels?

What is their diet?

Can you go into more detail on their caging?

Have you looked at separating them?

Not much humidity , echo earth for substrate but I feed outside of tank , I keep water in the cage at all times , measure with digital
& old style , they were doing really well on 1 small fuzzy mouse every Friday , 1 huge piece of drift wood in a n shape for hiding ,
then all of a sudden one started throwing up . I am clueless . Also, my argus eats the same food
as the beadeds do .

I just checked on him & he is gone . I really liked him/her . There is a doc at the University of Tn. that wants to examine his death .
He said he would find out what caused it but I would rather send it back to my boy in Florida . Maybe I can get a discount on a replacement . Maybe he had some kind of disease or something . They are all treated the same . I have two more that are just doing awesome , housed in the same tank .

Should I freeze him for further testing ?

Sending the body back to the breeder isnt really that big of a deal. Tell the breeder you lost the animal assuming it was with in the return time. Me? I would send it to the researcher to learn more about the death.

Excellent Idea. Keep a close watch for things to change. First signs of something wrong and get it into the vet
