25,000 is barely enough to get a California Senator to pay attention. Diane Feinstein is on record as saying "until I get 25,000 phone calls they do not have my attention". Likely an online petition would not get her attention at 25,000 if at all.
The fact is the USA has 300,000,000 people. The industry believes 3-10% own herps. If we stick with the low end of 3% that is 9,000,000 people owning herps. If you set your goal at 25,000 you are PROVING to opposition how insignificant you are. Specially if you fail! You seek 0.2% of all herp owners sign your petition.
Get 1,000,000 to sign and now you have a shot at getting their attention. Less and you show too much to opposition.
OP I do not refer to you in this next sentence. Any "industry leader" seeking 25,000 of anything in this fight is sincerely lacking the skills and knowledge needed to be said leader.
We'd love to see some pics of your collection, too.
I checked out all of your posts on Kingsnake, but didn’t really see any talk about any of your animals.
Thanks, buddy!

Until somebody else comes on here and courts the "reptile nation's" support, I think it's pointless to keep knocking USARK. Just work with USARK and try to make it better.
Or are we just supposed to throw money in the air and hope this mythical leader who's not Andrew shows their face?

I agree.
As far as knocking USARK, I really haven't heard any real facts as to why people are doing this. I haven't heard one concrete example as to anything that Andrew has done to merit us not supporting him.
As I said before, when you put yourself out there, you are going to have some people that try to undermine you with no good reason.
However, undermining Andrew is a great tactic on the part of the opposition in order to weaken our cause.
These are the two reasons why I think this is happening.
I'm not waiting for any other person or organization to come and save us. I will continue to support USARK AND Andrew Wyatt.

You fail to recognize the option I have been purporting all along.
GO FIND A NEW FACE FOR THE REPTILE NATION. Anybody who has the current leadership of USARK representing them, gets what they deserve. Unfortunately the rest of us are stuck with the results too.
I want the herp "nation" to have competent leadership. I want to win! I do not see a path where this can happen with AW as the face for herpers.

I see this complaining of existing organizations that are out there on the reptile industry's behalf. No organization is perfect. USARK has a limited budget. PIJAC is extremely busy fighting hundreds of bills on both the state and federal level for all animal species.
Some people may not be happy with the work these organizations are doing. I don't exactly see a whole bunch of people looking to fill the position of leader. If anybody does not like the work these organizations do, then they should take over. The fact is that no one person or organization is going to be able to do all the work. It has to be a coordinated effort by all serious hobbysists, breeders, importers, retailers, etc., to make a difference. Right now that's not happening. We need those we are paying to help us try and organize all these various factions of our hobby. That requires many people,a lot of work, and the money to pay those people to do it.

None of us wanted the result we were recently handed by the federal government and none of us deserves it. However, the positive response I have seen has been encouraging to say the least. With USARK, the Burmese Python Initiative, AAZA paper to Obama, online petition to the White house, there remains a fighting chance. Now is not the time for division in the ranks, there will be plenty of time for that later. Now is the time to stand loud and proud and take advantage of living in the U.S. and fight for our pets and a transparent and more honest government. Support those who are getting things done for us and lend your voice and efforts to others. The response has to be a multi-prong one, to succeed. Success means future generations having the same opportunities to life, liberty and happiness you have been afforded. This is about more than trading in snakes.
