hydro red question

lava Jan 23, 2012 02:22 PM

just picked up a hydro red dragon and added it to my two other dragons. there all babies, same size, but the red is acting a little funny. we got it 2 days ago from a breeder at a reptile expo. He looked good was active no issues at the time. brought him home added him to the tank and the next day i notice him starting to shed. after it shed-ed it still is not as active or eating like the others. can u give me any info on why or if i should be worried?

thanx

Seeing as you have only had it two days, I would suggest contacting who you brought it from and check in.

Also give us some background. Heat, light, diet, caging that you have set up now so that we can guide you somewhere.

first, never good to house a new animal with established animals, as always possible to introduce disease or parasites. Second, bearded dragons always do better when housed alone. Some breeding groups do work but for the most part, only adults should be housed in breeding groups.

Stress from cage mates could be causing issue with your dragon as large or more dominate animals take all the best basking spots, food etc and intimidate the submissive ones till the point they just don't thrive. I suggest housing the new dragon at least, alone. Give a good detail of your setup as well, this way we can see if the problem also lies with husbandry.
