male and females together year round

iankuch Jan 29, 2012 05:39 PM

Who has had success with it and how many females to the single male did they have in what size enclosure? I just picked up my second female and I want to try breeding them soon (don't have a scale yet, so not sure what they're weight is). Everything I've read went into more detail on rotating the male, but not really much on keeping the male with them all year round

Hi, I kept my male in with about 3 females in a 40 gallon critter cage all year round, and was up to my rooftops in eggs last year... I have seperated some of my males from females to get more control this breeding season.

So in answer to you question, unless the male is using a condom they will breed fine together as well as not.

do you think there would be any harm in me keeping a male with 2 females all year around? or should i keep them separate until breeding season?
