I'm looking to get a Crested Gecko. I can order one from the shady local pet store that says they can get me a baby for $100, or I can buy an adult from petsmart for $50. Is there any chance I could get a cheaper baby than $100 anywhere?

Also, Is there another type of gecko I should consider instead? I want one that I'll be able to handle and wont be skiddish and also I heard cresteds don't need live food so they appeal to me but I only plan on housing in a 20 gallon so it may not be large enough for a crested.

$100 for a baby crested is flat out robbery, unless it's a very high end gecko.I personally won't buy anything but feeders from big box pet stores (Petco,Petsmart,etc), since they usually could care less about individual animal health, and usually don't have knowledgeable employees, so the animals are usually on deaths doorstep as it is.
My advice would be to consider going to a nice herp show, there's usually hundreds of babies to choose from, at all price points.
heck,I usually sell my babies on craigslist for $20-$25, or I'll "stockpile" them until the next show rolls around, then take the babies and trade them for other animals. And for a single crestie,a 20 gal tall is plenty of room.
