Do you see anything odd in this corn?

RanL Feb 15, 2012 04:06 AM

Here's a pic of a young Okeetee female that I recently picked up. Something about her head shape looks a little strange to me, but I can't say what it is, exactly.
Since I don't have much experience with corns, I thought it'd be a good idea to post some pics of her here and ask for your opinion.
Do you see anything odd about her head?
Thanks,
Ran

I don't see anything wrong with it! In fact that is a "smoker" to me!! Jeff

That is one pretty snake, and the other head shot I just checked out looks pretty normal. Not really short, in my opinion.

I don't notice anything except it's one beautifully colored corn.

Nothing looks odd to me, Ran. Very nice vivid colors!

Thanks guys. I guess what bothered me was the relatively short snout plus the slightly bulging eyes. A friend that has taken a look at the snake suggested that she might have some Lampropeltis blood in her. How likely is that, in your opinion?
Thanks again,
Ran

I see that in baby corns all the time. Some just start out with shorter snouts than others!I've noticed it alot in bloodreds also.It will fix it's self as it matures. This guy started out with a short snout! Jeff

Thanks a lot! That's really reassuring to hear.

Agreed, some snakes are just like that. My sister-in-law has a champagne snow stripe with a really short head. All her siblings at the show looked completely normal. She's just a wee bit of a mutant.

I don't see any kingsnake in her at all! The colors are super though, post some more pics of her full body if you don't mind. I'll check the rest of the posts maybe you already did? The head shape is a tiny bit off but I would worry about it.

The short snout is a feature of Sunkissed corns. Perhaps your lovely Okeetee phase is het Sunkissed. My Sunkissed silver queen female not only has a very short snout, but has bit of an overbite as well.
