Rescue savanna update!

ez2bbad64 Feb 16, 2012 10:14 PM

Thought everyone would like to know how mort the savanna monitor is doing!. He saw the vet yesterday for a check up. The vet said its truly a miricle he is alive she didn't think he would make the first night. He has come a long way. The drainage has stopped from the wounds. He is drinking lots of water. He still has one eye that looks sunk in the vet thinks will get better like the other one has.(she says it's from dehydration) the latest challenge was his GI tract wasn't working and had basically shut down. He would throw up a lot of cola covered fluid. But he's a lot better now! He has quit vomiting and is taking small food items if placed against his lips. He is holding it down and started pooping again!! The first few were nasty but now it's looking normal. Vet says it looks like mort will be ok! He sees the vet again in a month. He will be evaluated to see if he is strong enough for surgury on his side at that time( he needs it there's dirt and garbage healed into it possing a big threat of future infections or abscesses.)

Hi again, that`s great, I thought he might have died a few weeks ago! They`re such tough animals, they fight for life with their last breath.
Well done for the effort you`re putting in (and to the vet), you`re a real credit!! Update pics would be nice...

I will post pics soon. I can't do so from my iPhone!. He looks much different now then he did. A lot of the burnt area is shedding though the skin looks different underneath. He looks brighter and has become quite active. He still has his sweet temperament and will seek out people when I let him roam.

Those before pics were hard to look at.

Would be so happy to see this Sav get healthy.
