My first (2010) clutch of Santa Rita Mountains locale Senticolis triaspis intermedia.

The sire.

The dam as a subadult.

Together...

WOW! Awesome snakes, Toby! What's their temperament like? I seem to recall reading somewhere that they stress easily.

Thanks very much, Carl - I am currently wotking on a new article about them. Yes, I would put them in the easily stressed category - although not terribly so, especially if you have well started / established cbb animals. WC green rats are somewhat of a different thing, although mine have been extremely healthy and have done very well for me.

Temperament-wise these are not good handling or showing off snakes - some are more jumpy and / or defensive than others - but they sort of handle like a beauty snake (cross between a Texas rat and a coachwhip). My big, adult WC female is better for handling than some of her offspring - but a few of her offspring are better / calmer than she is. Yes - they can be easily stressed, and I lost a Pajaritos locale baby female fairly recently - just died on me - weird. That is another thing I have heard from some folks (unexplained death), although the ones that just die for no apparent reason are usually WC.

I am working on trying to figure this species out...
