2 shots of my female situla.
Furst one is her first year laying, and the second her successive year laying. Those eggs are HUGE for a small colubrid

Those eggs are huge for that snake!
I have a pair of Croatian situla on loan to a friend - who has been trying to breed them for a couple years. He was very close last year with a clutch of "good" eggs - went full term and then the babies died in their eggs. I'll look for my pics of those snakes...

Great looking female Nazza.
I have always been amazed with situla's striking speed. I think they can repeatedly strike faster than any other species I've kept. It seems they can strike at least 3 times a second when they want too. Have you ever noticed that with ones you kept?

Funny you mentioned that, Randy. I was thinking about making a comment on strike speed for situla too - they are just blinding fast strikers! I had mine a for quite a while before one of them was grumpy enough to let me know it - but I knew I was bleeding before I knew I'd even been bitten. LOL John Lassiter is currently keeping my pair, and has also experienced their incredible strike speed.

Maybe their common nake should be changed to Ninja Rat snake.

I don't really remember them so fast, were shy and nervous but not, for example, as ridley. I think that at one point , adult and young, I had 8 / 10 situlas.
Maybe because mine were all italian , no croatian
