Was wondering what substrate everyone uses for their savannahs? I use top soil but today Im thinking I grabbed the wrong bag then usual and grabbed Scott's Top Premium Top Soil then the usual generic. Might keep these for the yard and go back and grab the generic bag cause this bag says it has composted forest products in it and some other crap I never heard of. What you guys use? thanks.

I shovel up soil from my back yard.

I have friends who us a mixture of "Eco earth" and play sand.

Composted forest products are fine, as long as there is no fertilizer in it.

Have a great day.

May sound like a dumb question if it is I apologize but how do you know if it does have fertilizer in it? Does it actually say fertilizer or some mumbo jumbo. Its this stuff.

I just read that page over, you have great top soil there, no fertilizer and it contains peat moss, a natural "humidity sponge"

toss a little sand in there and stir it up good, and you will have a nice breathing soil that should hold a burrow well.

Best wishes.
