I posted this a while ago and got no reply....anyone have any input? I'm sure SOMEONE here knows of some good places to go. I hear down near Orange Beach on the Gulf is pretty good....

I am currently located in Auburn, Alabama going to vet school. I want to take some classmates herping, and actually be successful....where would you suggest within a few hours drive? I am about 2 hours from Birmingham and 2 hours from Atlanta...so anywhere in that range...or if there is a particularly great spot somewhere a little farther, let me know! I used to go herping all the time back in Kentucky, but it has been a while and I want to get back into it!

will be unwilling to answer for a variety of reasons... unwilling to give out info on a good spot in case you're a collector... perhaps nobody knows of a good hotspot in Alabama where you're guaranteed to find something... perhaps there is simply nobody here from Alabama...

I'm in Maine so can't help you out at all... except to point out why you may not be getting any replies. Hope you have some luck while you are out and about.

Fair enough. Thanks Gerry for your reply. I am definitely not a collector, always have been and always will be a catch and release kind of guy. I'll go look around Orange Beach...one of my professors in vet school said he had luck with some Indigo snakes down that way. We shall see!

Wish I could offer more... or others could... but finding things isn't always easy... guys and gals put a lot of time into this and they can be a little reluctant to just give up good info to those they don't know.
