Why all the yellowtail cribos

mkot Mar 07, 2012 07:51 PM

I feel as if there has been a sudden influx of postings for WC yellowtail cribos. Is this a normal velocity of available animals or has there been a recent importation that is now working its way through the dealers to the hobbyist community. For the most part the animals look to be in good condition with some of them very impressive colorwise.

Thoughts?

Look up at the night sky and you'll see that stars don't fill the sky evenly. Everything clusters like that... including the availability of snakes.

good luck trying to get those acclimated. the last guyanan i had grew to 8 feet plus. beautiful snake that would rear up like a king cobra and if you pissed it off it'll repeatedly strike. after 4 years it decided to rub it nose against the top of the freedom breeder and get mouth rot. i then had to baytril and iodine the snake but it never came around and expired. btw, i only paid $75 for it from outback reptiles back then (~4 years ago). sticking to cb now. much easier....

YT's are usually imported during our late summer to early winter months. Thats why they seem to show up all at once. For years I was buying, acclimating, keeping and breeding WC YT's. I had an 85-90% survival rate on imports and I was buying 15-20 snakes per year during my heyday.
Most took ft rodents and those that were finicky took chicks and chickrn parts.
