Spiders in the monitor cage

_Eric_ Mar 11, 2012 01:49 PM

There are at least a hundred spiders in my monitor cage.Is there anything I can do to get rid of them without hurting the monitors?

Hi again, I`ve never had a problem with spiders, especially not that many, and no doubt they`ve laid eggs, and many more to come.
Do you have a steam-gun/machine, that will eliminate many of them very easily, at least the one`s you can see.

On a side note, did you find the second monitor yet?

I havnt seen him,but there is poop in his water today and hes been eating about 2 times a week so I know hes in there. The other monitor I see daily and it eats daily.

I dont have a steam gun.the spiders have always been in the cage because they were in the leaf litter I put in there.

I`m pleased to hear the second monitor is alive and feeding, hopefullly before he/she is full grown you might get a quick look!
I bought a small hand-held steam gun on ebay for approx £20($30 U.S), they are excellent for sanitising and deodorising inside the enclosure, though onviously, you have relatively large one, but because there are no chemicals they are very safe, even using directly on glass, and they get in all the little nooks and crannies.
As far as other inverts in the soil, they can be very useful.

You mean you aren't going to attack this guy for improper cleaning of his leaf litter? What about his assumption that the lizard is still alive because he saw some poop? Or maybe some semantic details? Oh this seems to be some friend of yours, so i guess they are exempt. I left some grammatical errors in here for you to point out.
