New Baby Savannah Monitors

dekaybrown Mar 13, 2012 01:26 PM

My babies arrived today, Littlefoot is bashful and Cera is bold.

I have already observed both of them snacking on the assorted wild bugs found in my natural vivarium type enclosure.

Fresh out of the shipping box, warming up.

Exploring the great unknown...

Wayne
They look good!
Cera is making a brake for it going up that 4 by 4.
I just hope they don't get lost in your enclosure. LOL
Good luck with them Brother, I'm sure you will do well by them!

Cera is being difficult at the moment, she won't come out of her burrow, But Littlefoot was happy to put on a show.

He ate a worm plus several roaches, and off the tongs!

Good that he`s eating, and from tongs too. Though I`m even more impressed that he can read at his age, well done indeed, little monitor!

They say monitors are smart, but wow! Lol.

But cute monitors, if you get a pair, are you going to try to breed them when the time comes? I'd like to work with them again, and hopefully be more successful. Savannas' are the whole reason I gained an interest in monitors.

Good luck, and I liked the website by the way, good luck with that too.

Since they are neonates, it's hard to tell sex, so I made sure to get one with a long snout and one with a short snout to increase my odds.

You can try the transillumination technique to sex them.
