So.....Who is going to screw up first

SPJ01 Mar 27, 2012 09:36 AM

I wonder what seller is going to be the first to completely screw over the entire hobby and ship a burm?
Looks like all the ads out there state a shipped price or how much extra shipping will be.
As of March 23rd, you cannot ship burms.
I say the first violation will occur within 60 days.
There is always one that will screw it up for all the rest.

really thats your question so your just waiting to see some poor soul get caght shipping a burm by the mass police force checking boxes at fedex and patroling the state borders on the look out for mass burm shipments and if by chance they get caught by this massive patrols what is going to get ruined for the rest of you ? you wont be able to ship them newsflash its already ruined

major crooks in it that only care about money.
They are the ones that ruin it for everyone else.
I give it 60 days before someone gets nailed shipping a burm.
Like it or not, there are WAY too many out for just a buck.
Maybe if they know we as a community are looking for them, they will think twice before shipping a burm and screw it up for the rest of us.

Where exactly was this Lacy Act Listing publicized? I saw nothing about it in my local media. If I did not look at the reptile sites, I would not even know about it. I have spoken to several casual hobbyists in my area recently who do not check the sites and shop mainly in pet stores, and have only one or several burmese. They are not "in the loop" as far as the herp world goes. They were completely unaware of this. My guess is that the people that get burned on this will be the ones that have no awareness of this and move to another state with their animals, or in some other way unknowingly break the law and come to the attention of the authorities. Sounds like a good way for the powers that be to make felons out of democrats to take them out of the voting population and generate revenues for more imperialistic wars with outrageous fines to boot!

I can totally see a sting operation by usfws where they purchase for shipment a burm, ya, or afrok only to bust the seller. It may be considered entrapment though.

The kicker is, they don't HAVE to publicize new laws. It's the citizens responsibility to spend every waking moment familiarizing themselves to all the bogus crap that lawmakers are shoving down our throats. case in point... I have NEVER seen anything publicized about tinting windows on your car other than they can't have the limo tint where you can't see through them, well this didn't keep me from having to pay $190 ticket for my car windows being too dark (they weren't THAT dark either). I bought the car with the windows just the way they were from the factory. This law was passed AFTER my car came out, had to pay it anyway. SO, ignorance of the no shipping laws for certain species will be no excuse. Owners of ANY animal needs to be aware of any laws, local, county, state, or federal pertaining to their species. We all know people won't even look for care sheets for the most part, much less research laws. We can only hope that the poor sot who gets caught shipping one of the restricted species gets a high profile story so maybe a few more will become aware.

The first was shipped in state but since the main fedex hub is in Memphis tn even though shipped in the state of TX it still went to the Memphis hub and was caught right off.

acheela Jul 16, 2013 04:18 PM

So what was the outcome of this? Shipped from Tx, TO Tx, I'm sure the seller thought they were in compliance right? Or can you not ship at all?

who will be the first to? as you say "screw it up for the rest" ITS ALREADY SCREWED UP! WAYNES WORLD Rules the Burmese Python. You must be a Bonafided special person in Waynes World. Otherwise "No python for you!" joe6pax

According to a report on another forum, a CT LE org. transported several burms surrendered as a result of their new ban, to a rescue in MA, without any permits.
Sir Wayne probably did not object.

Worrying about who is "going to screw over the entire hobby" at this point is tantamount to closing that proverbial barn door after the horses have run away, or perhaps wondering about which brand of condom to purchase AFTER that little line shows up blue on the EPT! We've ALREADY been screwed over, big-time, and didn't even get cab fare for the ride home or a cup of morning-after coffee for it, either.
