2012 Yellow Anacondas

mightymouseec04 Mar 28, 2012 04:42 PM

I am wondering if any anaconda breeders could possibly give me an idea of what the python ban should do to the price of yellow anacondas sold this year and i the next few? Along with the prices of all other banned snakes. It seems that the other snakes have not changed much in price. I have worked with yellow anacondas for the last 6 years and above all the anacondas are among my favorite reptiles. Last year was my first successful year with breeding and this year looks to be even better for me. I am still very new to the reptile market and am always researching the reptiles i have. Again this is just to get ideas and in no way is going to side-track my love for these snakes.
Thank you all.
Anthony

AS WITH ANY COMMODITY THEY'RE WORTH AS MUCH AS YOU CAN GET FOR THEM! THAT SAID IF YOU'RE IN A STATE WITH A LARGE POPULATION AND LARGE CITIES THERE ARE LIKELY MORE POTENTIAL BUYERS WITHIN REACH AND NOT SUBJECT TO THE BAN. NOW IF YOU'RE IN SAY NORTH DAKOTA YOU MIGHT HAVE TROUBLE GIVING THEM AWAY! KEEP THEM BECAUSE THEY APPEAL TO YOU (!) RATHER THAN FOR SOME HOPED FOR MONETARY GAIN.

I am not someone who is working with these snakes for a major profit. I truly do enjoy them. I have kept many snakes and even lizards but enjoy my yellow anacondas. The breeding is more of a bonus and another part of these snakes I get to study. I use any money that I receive from my reptiles to build better houses for them, and to care for them (yearly vet checkups, feeders, anything they need). I am not someone looking to get rich with them just someone looking to enjoy them and observe them first hand. They are truly fascinating animals.

I was able to get one picture loaded, so here are a few of the babies a few days after birth and getting ready to shed. Some of the babies shed 3 days after birth. I will keep working on a few more pictures. I have one taken shortly after the female finished giving birth.

My girlfriend and I came home from a day at the fair to this last July 25th, 2011. I was like a kid on Christmas, full of excitement and proud of my female Mini. I received 17 strong babies, with no still births or ova present. (Not sure if there were any but there were none present when I got home and it looked as if I just missed her finishing giving birth.) I do have one hold back female that has a lot of solid black pattern over a light tan/yellow.
