Strange Lump

dlwreptiles Apr 06, 2012 01:58 PM

I found this lump when I was moving one of my corns today. I already have a call into my vet, but I thought I would post here and see what you all thought while I wait. As you can see the lump is mostly on the side of the snake just before the vent. He is acting, eating, and digesting fine. The lump is not extremely hard but not mushy either...

Any thoughts?

Well, there is no way of knowing without a biopsy of the tissue being done. A pure guess would be some sort of tumor or infection, both of which need to get looked at ASAP as you mentioned you are doing.

Hope things go well at the vets and the snake can get back to normal again soon.

Thanks Doug. Back from the vet today, diagnosed as an abscess. The vet drained and flushed it and we started an antibiotic series.

it is not something worse. That is treatable, I have lost 2 snakes over the years to tummors and was afraid you would end up losing yours.

Hope your snake heals up quick and you don't see any more unexpected lumps.

You are very welcome. I'm really glad to hear things are looking up for the snake and you took it in to get looked at and treated.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!..
