Trimorphodon quadruplex

gila91 Apr 09, 2012 05:19 PM

Here are a few pictures of my CB female Central American lyre snake (Trimorphodon quadruplex). Not a species that's seen very often.

She is a yearling and already approaching if not exceeding 3 feet in length. In 1988 I saw a DOR individual that was at least 5 feet long, and the breeder has told me he has seen them as long as 7 feet. She initially fed on lizards, then switched to splithead pinks/fuzzies. Now she is eating prekilled hopper to young adult mice.

Why do you think they are not more popular? They have some really cool patterning and maintain a more manageable size.

Hmmm, my text didn't show up in he last message...

Anyway, They aren't that widely available yet, and I don't think a lot of people know what they are.

I like lyre snakes, and to have one that get 5 to 7 feet long is extra cool.
