Arizona Herping

lizardking666 Apr 12, 2012 03:52 PM

These are some of the rattlers I found last summer in southeastern Arizona:

Less than happy Black-Tail

We found 3 more road cruising that night

This had to be one of the most placid Western Diamondbacks i've ever encountered, he didn't even coil up

This Tiger Rattler was definately the highlight of the trip, beautiful snake

What are the regs for herping in AZ? Can you road hunt? I know there are numerous protected, but is going into their habitat and taking photos legal?

When it comes to road hunting in Arizona, simply put, you cannot use any type of light source; headlights, flashlights, or whatever, from a motor vehicle. So, you can hunt at night with a light as long as you are not in a motor vehicle. Such as walking. That means you can road hunt with a light on a bicycle if you want to.
