New Bearded stays perched in same spot

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a 3 month old male Sandfire/ German Giant Bearded Dragon cross. I've had him since 12 pm now and he still hasn't pooped despite eating 3 dubia roach babies. (One of the babies was fed to him by the breeder while I was at the reptile show and was quite large. I fed him two smaller ones at home.) He's staying perched on top of his log like in the photo below. The highest temp in the cage is 90, but the overall cage temp according to the stick on thermostat is 85. He does move around but always stays on the log, and not very much at that. When I first put him in the enclosure he was exploring and licked the food dish, log, and artificial plants.

I'm really worried that I overfed him because he hasn't pooped yet and he's not moving! He also hasn't drank out of the water dish. I misted him but he didn't really lick the drops off of his body or anything...

When should I start worry about impaction? Is this normal behavior? Please help! I don't want my new beardie to die on me. D:

Sound like your hot spot isn't hot enough. I would just increase the hot spot to 100-110 and give him some time. It takes some babies a week or two to fully adjust to a few encloscure. Its good he ate and was checking out everything. Make sure you mist him and keep him hydrated. If he doesn't poo after you increase the heat I would give him a nice soak in warm water no higher then his shoulders. Usually always works
Good luck!

I heard that bearded dragons always bask in the light. But I'm not sure why it is not going to the bathroom . I know that if your bearded dragons poop is dry it's not sick but if its not you should check him/her.
