Outdoor enclosure plans or ideas?

dragomlover Apr 17, 2012 11:02 PM

I live in sunny south Florida and recently bought my first house. I have been owning and breeding dragons for almost 8 years now. The other day I bought everybody's yearly UV bulb replacements and was thinking about how I have a free source outside! I drew up some plans I think might work but I figured it couldn't hurt to see if anybody else had already been doing this with there dragons and had any do's or don'ts for me. I am super nervous about leaving anything outside even if I dragon proved a cage. Im just concerned that other things will hurt them. Like snakes, ants etc... during the day if nobody is home. I am planning to build a large wire/mess cage with one side that is shaded and the other with a basking area of river rocks. All of the cage would be wired up so no open air access areas. Well, if anybody has anything for me Im all ears!!!
Thanks for the help

I'm also interested in hearing from others about this. We're considering building outdoor enclosures for several herps including beardies. My primary concern is mites. How do we keep them off our beardies and how do we keep them from being spread into our collections when we bring the beardies inside for the winter?
