I want to take my son field herping in the South or West. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to go?

I can't do much herping at all these days, but 6-7 years ago I was in SW Texas with a friend. I LOVED the Davis Mtn area. Also alpine and down to big bend. there is a motel in Alpine owned by a herper. I think his first name is Rob. IN may it is loaded with herpers, and it makes a great place to stay and meet up with a lot of other people in the field.

Good Luck

There is actually an event in Texas which includes herping on private lands. kingsnake.com is a sponsor as well.

That's very cool. Been wondering when more stuff like that would happen. might inspire me to lose some weight so I can walk a bit better lol. The timing is actually very good for me.

We think alike! I am in shape to walk ohhhhh about a block!

I am not a field herper, only having done it like twice. I tend to go where I am guaranteed to see the animals like zoos. But I am slowly being brought over to the dark side! I know several of the folks from the forums will be there and kingsnake.com is happy to be supporting the event. We will have the big herping truck down there. Hoping to lose about 30 lbs before the trip. But hey, it all starts somewhere.
