Looking to save some money where I can. Does anyone have a good source to lower the cost on monthly aspen costs? Whether it's at a National Chain Store, or ordering on line, or buying in bulk. So where did you seem to find your best deal?

A guy on a forum showed me this link. I'm sure this shredded Aspen bedding is very cheap (formerly Harlan), and it comes in big compressed 35 lb. bags for only $10.99 each plus shipping. I get these same bags from a girl I know periodically for $18-$20 per bag when she wants to reduce the cost of snakes she buys from me from time to time. I don't know where she gets them though. From what the guy said that sent me this link, I doubt you get get much of a better deal, but anything is possible I guess.

If you live where you can attend a reptile expo like the one in Daytona you can generally get a fairly good deal. I alwyas pick up a couple of bags there. I get a 9.0 Cu.Ft. compressed to 3.0 Cu. Ft. for around $20. They have a truck load there every year.
I'm sure other expos are similar.

here is another place. they makes 2 types of bedding. "excelsior" is slightly finer than the "aspen" bedding type. Either would be fine for snakes. It's also shredded cross grain, not planed wood chis. Wholesale $8 a bag or so if you buy a lot of the 32 pound bag. But if you call maybe you can find someone close that gets it shipped and pick up a few bales/bags. Or maybe CL a few others you group up and place an order.

Depending on how much you need, National Pet Pharmacy offers 4.38 cu ft bales for $10.98. They offer free shipping on orders of $50 (if you sign up for "autoship" where you schedule regular shipments of the same item. It can be monthly, quarterly or even yearly.

Is that the shredded type of the chip? A good price either way I prefer shredded for smaller snakes.
