BTS had 2 babies...more expected...HELP!

Farlikins Apr 29, 2012 05:54 AM

I have a gravid BTS who had 2 babies yesterday...I work as a very tech and we took a digital xray and see approx 11 more. I can't seem to find anything online that states how long it takes for them to finish giving birth. Any ideas?

As a side question, what is it called when a BTS gives birth? In dogs its whelping, cats its queening, horses its foaling, in egg laying reptiles its clutching...what is it when BTS give birth?

Did she have the rest of her babies? My Egernia (closely related) had some of their babies days apart. They birthed like one or two a day for several days. One had four and one had five.

I think it is called parturition, but i'm not sure. I just call it giving birth.

Usually it happens within 24 hours, but it has been known to take as long as a few days. Its nothing to worry about. As far as a female giving birth, around here we just call it dropping a litter. I have no idea what the technical term is for it.
