Las Vegas Herping

KenC May 21, 2012 09:38 AM

This herping trip was out near a friend’s house on Las Vegas. We were herping in his backyard and the surrounding desert. The first picture was of a great basin gopher snake. The second is a horned lizard. The third is a pair of western banded geckos which we found in an irrigation box. We also saw some desert iguanas but they are too fast for me to catch.

I forgot to add this guy. This is the second desert tortoise I have seen this season. I took some pics from a distance.

You can catch the desert Ig's with some thread on a stick with a noose. Its the funnyest thing you'll ever do! As you try to get the noose over its head it will try to swat it away. When you get it its like catching your first fish! Their none the worst from it (better for them than stunning them with a rubber band gun) and like I said just too funny for words. Equipment used, stiching thread from a snake bag and a stick off the ground. Being ten all over again! VM

Wish my backyard had things like that... very cool.

Awesome! Are all of those can be found at the backyard? men, that would cost me some payday loans if i will buy it on authorized sellers. You're so lucky. Hopefully i could find some on my next vacation.

All could be found with in his 5 acre lot, in either his actual yard or in the surrounding desert habitat.
