Gorgeous unique looking rubidus! Congrats! Have to come over and see the rest of the clutch soon. Advantage of living close to ECCM Here's a pict of the beautiful rubidus you produced last year. Growing nicely. Nice stout head like a cobra

That is one stunning looking snake! Cannot wait to see how it looks as an adult.

Here is a comparison of the normal and mottled phase rubidus.
These are siblings that hatched two days ago.

Enjoy,

Very interesting that siblings would be so differently colored. Is the mottled color an inheritable trait? Do the neonates maintain that color to adulthood? Were the parents mottled or normal?

Parents were unrelated normal (indigo) colored adults. Last time I produced them (mottled) was back in 2009. This year I will be breeding those 09's to unrelated mates to hopefully produce more
mottled bloodlines . Here is a shot of a 09' as a yearling.

Good luck in establishing a line of mottled rubidus. At 9 feet long and 20 lbs., that would be one impressive colubrid.

Alan,

Very cool Indeed! Always a thrill to
see the fruits of your labor. Those low
temp long incubations are worth the wait!

Those are beautiful! Might this be a form of Hypomelanism? I guess you'll know after you breed those 09's. Congrats!
