Wild Caught Corn from Calhoun Co. Fl.

karmakritters May 25, 2012 03:05 PM

I caught this girl about a year ago. I assumed the previous homeowver had kept corns and was one that got away. After talking with her she said she never kept corns just honduran milks. We are out in the middle of the woods. Anybody have a clue what she is?

Lets try again.

It's a hypomelanistic Corn Snake. Hypos occasionally turn up in the wild as do anerythristic Corn Snakes. That's a good-looking snake!

I agree with Tim. That is a VERY nice hypo specimen!

It would be interesting to see if the gene is a compatible strain with the more common hypo type "A" and even some of the others as well.

Gorgeous snake for sure!

Wow! That snake is gorgeous! It is an incredible find. It's one of the prettiest hypo corns I've seen.

Thanks. I was thinking Hypo but she looks so different from the hypos I have had in the past as they were all real deep orange. I bred her to am albino okeetee this year. I will hold back some of the babies and see what happens when bred back to one of the hypos a friend of mine has.
I will try to post pics of my lavender colored female tomorrow. She was produced from hypo to hypo breeding. My friend has been line breeding them for atleast 5 generations and last year had three odball looking babies come out of a clutch.
Thanks Sam

I'm looking real forward to seeing the oddball pics from these successive hypo to hypo breedings!..

I finally had some time to take some pictures. It is hard to capture her true color as she has a lavenderish over tone to her that does not show well in the pictures. I also attached a picture of her male clutch mate.

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!
