Very nice P.slowinskii indeed! That's AWESOME that you got it off the road in time too. That locale certainly is right within their known specified range..

.......congrats!

i can find Tx Rats all summer. never seen one of these. i was on my long country drive to work and had absolutely nothing to keep it in for 8 hours. ridin w pillow cases now.

Yep!,....I have kept a couple pillow cases and little plastic jars with holes melted in them in my truck too..LOL!

While going to my buddies house I was getting off the interstate exit ramp and spotted a melanistic Hognose in front of me right in the middle of the ramp. Luckily there was no traffic getting off just when I was, so I was able to slow down, jump out, and capture it without any issue. I had to just hold it in my lap though until I got to his house, which was only a couple miles from the exit. As I recall it musked me pretty good too.

Anyway, pillow cases sure do come in handy for this, just make damn sure you CLOSELY inspect the stitching beforehand..LOL!. If the stitching is in the slightest way compromised......often it can mean bye-bye snake inside the vehicle!!.....D'OH!!!..

I found a beautiful Eastern black king once, I had absolutely nothing in the truck to put it in.......then it hit me...I took off my socks..I put it in one sock and tied the other around the end of the one with the snake...worked out quite well...lol

That's was a great idea to use your socks Jimmy. And if it musked inside the socks, you can simply blame the foul odor on the snake of course..LOL!..

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!
