Blue and orange iguana?

Jonathan_Brady Jun 04, 2012 12:15 PM

I'm in Punta Gorda, FL and just saw what I think was an iguana. It was mostly blue with some gray-ish white and bright orange. Do they normally come in this color variety? Could it have been something else?

I tried to snap a pic with my phone and took two, but because of harsh shadows they turned out terrible. I can post them when I get home if needed.

Thanks!

Like I said yesterday, these pics are TERRIBLE. All I had was my phone and I had to use the zoom (which makes phone pics even worse) and the lighting was REALLY harsh (it was around noon). Then, I had to crop the pictures to give this any size at all. I wish I could have gotten closer but this was as close as I could get and the best I could do.

So... iguana? (if you can even make out anything from these pics)

Thanks!

I think that is the one they call the Spiderman Agama. It was just loose?

They are indigenous to West Africa, and very abundant along the coast. I have seen them up to 2ft, but more common in the 14" size. Females are smaller and less colorful -- first pic with the green head. They can change color to some extent -less colorful if put in captivity.

I say it's definitely an iguana.
I was going to post on yesterday's post (before the pics)
and say that I had seen that color combo before.
But the one I was referring to was even brighter!
