Can anyone tell me, an out-of-stater, where the required reptile and amphibian stamps
can be purchased? Are they available at most big sporting goods stores, or do you have to buy them directly from TP and W? We're coming out in a week and already have our hunting licenses , but still need the stamps.

Walmart. If you make it out to Alpine you can go to True Value.

You can by them online through TPWD as well.

Make sure you buy a reflective vest that meets their (rather ridiculous) specifications. People have been given tickets already this year for not having the vest and or stamp.

I am stopping at Wal-Mart to pick mine up for snake days. They have both items there. Since I will need other supplies (carry on only) walmart will work for a one stop shop.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take to get your license when you ordered it online?

Am I correct in thinking even kids under 16, while not requiring a hunting license, DO need the stamp?

I'll be purchasing stamps for me and my family tomorrow...I'm sure my bride will be asleep in the car for most of the herping, but I don't want her to get ticketed for her obvious intent to pick up snakes...

You were correct on the under 16 rule, which I am sure you already learned. I just wanted to follow up on the off chance someone may head down there and see this.

We did end up stopping at WalMart. My inner reptile lover/conservationalist reared its head when the guy gave me the old "only good snake is a dead one" talk. He had to remind me I was in texas and not WI. It wasnt pretty.

You can print out a receipt after completing the sale online and that receipt functions as a temporary license and stamp until you get the real one.

I think it took around 2 weeks to get it in the mail, but I could be wrong. I really didn't pay that much attention since my temporary stamp/license receipt had me covered.
