Hi! I'm having difficulty keeping the temp high in my berm's enclosure. My vet advised against using a heat lamp because it would counteract the humidity level, I do have an under tank heater and a piece of fiber glass/plastic covering the top. The humidity level is good, I'm having problems keeping the tank temperature up. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Your vet is absolutely correct. What type of enclosure are you using?

Right now I have her in a 40 gal tank. She is a 2010, so still kind of young. Once she gets bigger, I'll have her in a custom made enclosure.

What type of heating unit are you using? It should be able to keep the floor temps up unless the room temp is really low.

I have an under-tank heater that I regulate with a dimmer switch kind of thing. She lays on that a lot, and I've checked to make sure that it doesnt get too hot. Do you think that would be ok even though the thermometer says its about 80 degrees in there?

You will need to measure the temp on the floor of your cage; the air temp isn't going to tell you much. Lay the thermometer on the floor directly over the heat source. It should read in the low 90's over that section of the cage floor.

Oh, ok! So let me know if I'm understanding this correctly....As long as its in the 90's on the spot where the heater is (its a big one, so it takes up almost a quarter of the tank floor) then everything should be ok?
