How difficult of a task is this?

Eric my first wc took a frozen thawed the first time i offered it. It took a little bit for it to take food on a regular basis but now he is a pig. I don't know if this is the norm.

Eric, we always start with fozen/thawed fuzzies. Not pinkies, not mice but small fuzzies. Example the lozier we got earlier this year took them right away. Just provide a hide box and leave them over night. If that doesn't work, then you go down the path of (try F/T pinkies). If that doesn't work you can try live but I always suggest going small (harmless) if you try a live food source so the snake doesn't get hurt. If all of these fail, then its time to look into scenting. The little earless lizards you find on the cuts are what we try to use. Med Geckos work as well as scelops and uta's if you can get them. Scent pinkies first just to see if they will take them. In last resort, if its been a long time without feeding you can just feed the Alterna a F/T lizard. I wish you the best. I hope she gets feeding quickly. Best Wishes, Steven Owens

Some never switch over. Some take right off on mice. The rest take varied amounts of effort. My female hueco ate lizards for like two years then one day took scented and is now a pig and easy to feed with no scent.

They are usually nervous at first but will feed. Offer small fresh killed mice at night. Just leave it by the hide and it should be gone in the AM. They will become more aggressive feeders over time.
