Help with ID's Pic heavy

Snakeeyes1618 Jul 06, 2012 07:47 AM

I just hatched out a really great clutch.

I bred a Quad het pair together and got 16 eggs. The genetics involved are Amel, Lav, Bloodred, and Motley.

So this clutch had lots of possibilities. So this is what I think I got with pictures. If I am wrong PLEASE let me know.

First off
I got 5 Hets

2 Bloodreds

Bloodred Motley

Amel

Amel Motley (possible bloodred?)

Plasma

Plasma Motley or Lav motley not sure...along side a surprise

After that pic you can see that there was a hidden gene.
Anery Motley (possible Bloodred?)

Turns out they were also het Anery. So now I have Quint Hets. WOO HOO the possibilities.

Hopefully you all enjoyed. Let me know if i am far off on some of these

Thanks

Agree an awesome clutch. I won't say to much on the genetics as I have not kept up and forgot most of what I learned. But I believe the bloodred thing has at least 2 genes. One for the diffused sides. Then the way the colors blend to deep reds. I loved those bloodreds. I still do in fact. If I ever got back into corns i;m sure they would be in there. Oh yea i took a triple take at that motley blood. DROOL! Major Congrats

This was my first male and I had no idea what it was til Kathy Love emailed me about him.

I think you may have them fairly correct. The only problem is that both the Bloodred, and the motley will produce babies with no belly pattern. I also produced some double hets (Bloodred, and Hypo) a few years ago and some of the 2xhets had plain bellies, so keep that in mind. Congrats!

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!

Yes I understand the belly pattern. Its when you start combining the two where it gets confusing for me. I have to look at other signs and patterns that might lead to one or the other. Like the head pattern on a bloodred is somewhat different.

Thanks
