Feeding hatchling baroni

agrodolce Jul 08, 2012 10:29 PM

Our female laid a clutch on May 18. I plan on breeding mice at first so I have the right size pinks (plus feeders are outlandishly expensive here). Will hatchlings take food right away? Should I go get adult mice now? Should I wait until closer to hatching? I'm assuming they'll change in appearance somewhat towards the end.

Any other hints you can think of? Should I separate them? I plan on feeding them separately like I do the parents, even if I keep them together in one tank for a little while. I have about a month before my husband gets back from his job to take over, so I'm hoping they hold out until then.

I don't keep baroni, so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe a lot of the babies will take pinks. Some may be picky for lizards though.

many will take pinks, some wont, so you might want to offer them small fish, small amphibians, small lizards.
I tried to keep them together (the babies) but when they are hungry they may try to eat each other, not good!
I hope this helps,
David
