My Pretty Baby

She just ate, shed, and I cleaned out her cage. She's a very happy snake today.

I think she's beautiful. Much more sedate than the Hondurans I owned, and not a picky eater.

I'd like a bigger cage/home for her. I think she'd be happier in something where she can climb and stuff, but I'm a little bit limited on places to keep her.

I wonder why Dums aren't popular, too. Maybe because they look a lot like the pythons, but don't grow as big, or maybe new enthusiasts are worried that they'll end up with this huge snake that they have to hunt small game for (HA!). Lots of people really go for the morphs in the milksnakes. We've got a nice sized female out by the barn. She hibernated up by the house this year, tho.

I've considered finding a male to breed baby with, but because of the low marketability of them, I thought it would be a bad idea.

Gorgeous girl! My boy is still just a wee baby. I know I've taken my little guy to the local herp society meetings and everyone always asks where I got him. I live in Nevada and had to go to California to get mine because nobody out here breeds them. I don't know if it is because there are no morphs or people just don't realize they are out there. I've had owners of reptile stores ask me what a dumeril is when I get rats. Although unlike yours, mine is a very picky eater.
