Hey Ben
Just curious on the sizes of crayfish available?
Is there a legal size limit?
Also do you feed them (as a staple) to your Beccari?

Hi Mike!
Here in Cali we have a legal season, you can catch and legally take any size from May-aug or until the females start to show eggs.
Louisiana is different, they breed them in pens and breed them along with catfish. Usually you don't get too many small ones.
I buy 40-100lbs at a time, shipped to the airport and pay just under $3.00 a lb.
No don't feed 'em to my black tree's, they get a rodent staple along with lots of bugs. Hoping the clutch I've got in the incubator will be successful, about a month to go.
Hope you and yours are well brother.
Ben

You finish that enclosure yet, I love to see your work!

Here in los angeles there are fishing bait suppliers that stock various sized crayfish as well as an assortment of other invertebrates, and, perhaps most notably, at least to me,larval ambystomid salamanders! in that some of these places are supplying a good number of local bait shops they carry significant quantities of the various creatures used to "sway fish to the hook"

Thanks Guy,
I was wondering about size avilability, sounds like all sizes are avilable.

You used to work with some Rudis if I remember right?

I haven't been down there in years so i couldn't say as for their current stock, but i'd imagine so.
And yeah i love them rudicollis i do.I'd say they're probably my favorite big black monitors with bumpy stuff on their necks.. They are way cool, active, very alert and seemingly pretty bright, though that one did have trouble doing my taxes that one year. I'm hoping to set up a few of them as soon as i find a functional place to put them... i just wish i could find some from where ever th ones i had back in '89..thy were huge!
