Some cool stuff in this post

daneby Aug 10, 2012 08:03 PM

My niece with her 1st bullsnake, she was pretty excited. She caught 2 that day.

Tiny ants eating a bee head

Tons of salamanders out this day

A nice big red sided garter on the hunt

I was watching it awhile & all the sudden it dove down & grabbed a tiger salamander. It drug it out of the water & as you'll see in one of the pics it passed right by my knee & stopped & ate it. I'm going to put all of the pics on here so you can see the process.

& done

Thanks,

Dan Eby

Nice as always Dan... your niece does seem very pleased with herself... nice to see you're passing the joys of field trips along.

Gotta tell you though... those salamanders are fantastic... as much as I dislike removing things from the wild... one of those would have come home with me for sure!

That owl pic is bizarre... looks as if it's possessed with those glowing eyes... the raptor version of "Rosemary's Baby".

Reminds me of the haunted forest owls in the "Wizard of Oz"..LOL!

lol, I thought so too. That owl is one of 3 babies I was watching & every time I went to see them they were on the sides of the trees where the lighting sucked so I couldnt get any good pics.

Thanks Gerry. I know what you mean, I do have a few of the tiger salamanders I've found. One of them is 12" long & I've had him since 2001.
