I went to an Ohio state park today, because that's what I do on days like today.

From off in the distance, I could tell that something wasn't right with this sign.

It had a bat in it!

I opened the sign up, but the creature just made itself more comfortable.

I assumed the sign is his regular roosting place, so I let him be.

I found some herps like Pickerel Frogs.

And Dusky Salamanders.

But my favorite find wasn't a reptile or amphibian. It was a Northern Hog Sucker.

It was a great day to be out finding stuff!

Cool pics Tim. I need to get out more. Did you figure out how that bat got in and out of his sign?

Yes, apparently they like to roost there and on previous years there's been several at a time in there, even though there are many abandoned structures nearby. I'm not sure if they squeeze through the very tiny crack between the plexiglas frame and the sign or if they have another way in.
