2012 Hypo Knoblochi clutch

snakecellar Sep 01, 2012 11:53 AM

I finally got my hypo female to breed back to her father in order to prove the gene. I got seven fertile eggs of which five were visible hypo. I can't wait to work the gene into my other bloodlines. It will look awesome in my type 3 heavy black line and the clown face line.

What exactly is a clown face?

Is it just where the head blotch connects to the first red blotch, or is there more to it than that?

I ask because the knob you show has quite a bit of fusion of the red blotches or bands, happening down the entire length of the snake. I'm wondering, is the clown face is associated with a general fusion of the red blotches?

Is it inheritable?

Very cool. Do these come from a specific line or did it just pop up randomly?

I bought my breeders from Tad Fitzgerald in 2002. I bred them the next year and held back the nicest trio in 2003. In 2006 the first hypo popped out, a male. The next year a female hatched out and the next year after that another male popped out. I was unsuccessful with two attempts at pairing up the hypos, so this year I bred the hypo female back to her father and out of seven babies five were visible hypo.
Tad got this bloodline from Don Wilson, Seven Generations Reptiles who got the line from Buzz Ross. So this bloodline is traceable back to the Ross line and no other blood has been introduced into it.

Are you sure Don Wilson got his knoblochi from Buzz? I went to Don's house around 1995 to buy some greeri and I'm pretty sure Don said his knobs were from Steven Osbourne. I know for sure Don had alot of stuff from Osbourne, like amel ruthveni and some het for amel alterna/ruthveni crosses. In no way am I implying your knobs were crossed. IMO none of Don's knobs were crosses but I do think I remember him saying they were Osbourne stock.
