Fluffy's Grandchildren

waspinator421 Sep 04, 2012 12:46 PM

Been back from vacation just a couple days and then Fluffy's grandchildren were born here last night. A small litter of 7 healthy babies, with a 4.3 ratio. No stills or slugs, but the babies were already roaming about when I discovered them this morning so they could have been consumed.

They all look normal, but am hoping for them to fall in their grandfather's footsteps (or lack there of) and start changing in a few years.

Pics to come....

Congrats Aubrey, that's litter #2 of Fluffy's Grandkids. I have one should be coming soon and that may be it for this year.

Thanks Dave! Did you produce the first litter? I know another gal produced a litter with one of Fluffy's offspring bred to a normal.

No, Ken produced the first litter. I have one still in the oven.

I did not know about the offspring x normal litter.

Congrats!
Was this a pairing of two siblings of half-siblings (offspring of Fluffy)?

Yup, those were the ones. Wanted to have them be as diverse of genetics as possible for the first round. Next breeding I may use one of the other males. I wish I would have picked up more from Savannahs litter, as this one male I have is amazing!

Very cool! Thanks for answering that Aubrey!

I really hope you get some calico babies from them. Keeping them all?

Yup, keeping them all. I'm actually glad it was a smaller litter.... an amount I can handle raising up!

I think we'd all be happy if even a couple eventually showed white scales.

Congrats Aubrey!!!

I am a little disappointed I am behind on most people on this project but hopeful the genetics will be figured out before I start breeding my “possible het” calicos.

The babies look great!!!

Maybe behind but will still take years to know any more about how the gene (if it is a gene) works.

Actually if it is a gene, I believe I already know how it works, just hard to refine and work the project to the point of having babies that are known to be Calicos prior to the change.
