Hey all,
I have been out of the game for quite some time. Just wondering, what ever happend to the golden corn? Did it prove to be genetic? Were more produced?

The golden Corn did prove out. Zee had some bad luck, but I think he is still working with them. He will hopefully have some to share in the near future.

Disclaimer: I do keep several snakes in pairs, and some in groups. However I realize that things can go wrong, and I have to keep a close eye on those groups, to be sure they are not being adversely affected by these living conditions. Also if one happens to eat it's cagemate, it is 100% my fault, and I know the risks in advance!

Zee proved it to be simple recessive. The origional golden corn died recently but he has some golds and quite a few hets to work with. As he is in the military and stationed overseas he has had a few set backs with the snakes at home and he doesn't post here often. We all wish him well and are waiting for the news as to what hatched out this year.

Here is one photo of the original "Golden" corn Terry....

He captured this snake in South Carolina with his son while road cruising some years ago. I saw this animal in person when he brought it to Daytona back in 2007-2008. It did indeed prove-out to be a recessive gene later on when bred to a female he also captured from the same area, and he has since produced hets and "golden" offspring from those successive breedings. He did also have some unfortunate luck with some of the animals due to him being in Iraq for long extended periods. It was QUITE an impressive snake, and this photo does it no justice. It was very golden on the first 2/3rds with a very greenish/gray cast background coloration. It was quite a find!

This original male has since sadly passed away, but he does have some very nice animals descending from him to carry on this interesting trait for the hobby...

As always.........be safe over there Zee, and we all salute the great job you and everyone else there is doing for this country!

cheers, ~Doug
