Two more litters!

waspinator421 Sep 12, 2012 04:02 PM

Copper had a litter of 14 healthy babies with no slugs or stills last week. Took pics, but haven't had time to post them yet.

Also, Zuul had her litter this morning. Didn't see it until I was getting ready for work. Holy wow, this litter is amazing! I think it might be even better than her first litter in 2010! Total of 13 with no stills or (apparent) slugs. I literally could not stop saying "wow" as I was collecting them.

Pics will be posted late tonight!

Congrats on the litters and looking forward to the pics.

I also had a couple litters recently but been too busy to comment on them. 1 was not so good, only 4 babies but it was outcrossed het Hypo x outcrossed het Hypo and I got my fully outcrossed Hypo.

The second was Dot x Ozzy with some aberrant babies in the pile of 11 but nothing extreme.

Thanks Charlie, actually got 2 out of 4 Hypos but one has a kinked tail. The litter was not well hydrated. Not as much slime as there normally is. Even the individual egg sacks were deflated.

Well I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that they take off for you and do well even with a little bit of a rough start for them.

There was actually one out of the anery litter, one of the hets, that has a bit of a deformed/lopsided head and missing an eye on one side. I'll keep watching it for now and if it seems to be able to do okay other than being a little deformed then it'll go home as a pet whenever I think the right person comes along. I guess we all probably do things like that with some of these special needs babies? I had a majorly kinked crb this year but it eventually started eating and the kinks were even straightening out some, so I gave it away to someone who I thought would give it a good home that'd picked up a ball python from me and was looking for something a little different.

One of the unfortunate realities of producing live animals, not all are perfect. I always try and home my special needs babies as long as I feel they are viable. Prime example is the Kinked Hypo. Is a tail area kink and I won't even attempt to sex it. As long as it does fine, I will move it along to a new home as someones pet only.

I've done the same thing. In the rare instance I have a healthy and happy but deformed baby, I just sell it super cheap to someone who wants one as just a pet. Has worked well for both me and the new caretakers!

This litter was born in the afternoon on 9/7. I knew she was going to give birth very soon, and I checked on her before running errands that day. When I returned about an hour or two later she had already had about 5 or 6 babies! I was tempted to take birthing pics, but due to her position it would have disturbed her... so I opted to let her be.

Total of 14 live and no slugs or stills. A very healthy litter, and Copper is doing great!

In 2010 Zuul had her first litter. Being that her and Gozer both have aberrant patterning, and being siblings, I was anticipating an interesting brood. Boy was I shocked when she delivered babies with little to no pattern on their backs!

This year her litter has been highly anticipated, and seeing her become restless in the past couple days really had me pacing. This morning she delivered 13 healthy babies with no stills or slugs. Some babies were already cruising around when I found them so it is possible she ate any slugs.

Once again Zuul has amazed me with the patterns on her babies. The dorsal pattern reduction is practically complete on a couple of them! Most of the others are pretty wild looking as well! Like I said before, all I could say was "wow".

...to see the name Gozer now? LOL Love it!

I do have to say I really laughed at the picture of the two faces peeking out next to each other, it doesn't get any cuter than that!

I can totally understand your "wow" description, the dorsal patterns, or lack of, is just insane...that's crazy! So how many new hold backs did you just produce?

Great stuff!
