Reddest Rainbows

boidmorphs Sep 14, 2012 09:15 PM

Quite awhile back I picked up a red phase brb that was like no other I've ever seen since. I've no clue who I bought it from but it had a downright NASTY temperament. I constantly see breedings of orange phase with red or people calling an animal red that is not all that red IMO. Can someone show some REAL RED animals here? I'd love to know who has the reddest rainbow!

Very nice Dave! How long does it take for red babies to "color up"? I see babies for sale billed as red phase, but it's hard to tell what they'll look like in the future since they're so young.
I'm sure you've put red animals with hypos before, but have you taken any of those het hypo/red babies produced, raised them up, and created nicely colored red hypo babies yet?
I'm familiar with the "cherry phase" hypos from another source in TX, but I'm wondering if they're the only game in town?
Thanks for posting.

I have a few nice reds, but have focused on the oranges (my favorite).... I am not good at loading photos onto forums, so please Check out my facebook page for photos. The Epicrates album and the "fruit of outcrossing" photo album have some good examples, including natural light photos.

I may upload a photo to the forum, But as this is probably the first time I got on these forums since 2011....I would look at facebook page.....it is MUCH MORE current than my website. The Tim Frazier bloodline has some very nice reds. The Howard Leong bloodline aslo produced some really red animals. I believe that Dave has most of Howard's animals.

also, try this link.....there are some red males on this page...Photos from 2006, but I have lots of BRB's from this bloodline, and I still have the father from 1998 or 2000.

Hi Bryan. My statement above, "I'm familiar with the "cherry phase" hypos from another source in TX, but I'm wondering if they're the only game in town?" refers to you LOL. One of the absolute nicest hypos I've ever seen was produced by you. My good friend Amanda Rose, who's currently visiting me, referred to your red derived hypo line as "cherry phase". I don't know if that's her term or yours, but it is fitting.

Thanks Boid Morphs...........I borrowed the name from Tracy Barker who has done the same thing with Blood Pythons to get tremendously more colorful animals through selective breeding. I am very open about how to make more colorful animals.....USE THE PRETTIEST NORMAL ANIMALS TO OUTCROSS YOUR MORPHS. that is it.

That's great news Cliff. I'm looking forward to seeing them produce for you someday! The combination of those two bloodlines should be great.
