talked to USFW about the other 5

rodneynboalich Sep 18, 2012 06:52 PM

i talked to two different agents from the US fish and wildlife today. i had called because i was told an agency had showed up to a PA reptile show and i was trying to find out which one it was. well it wasnt them but i did talk to both of them about the python ban and if they had plans to add more to the lacy act. they both told my they know of no plans by USFW to push to have the other 5 listed. which is good news for us all. i was informed the other day that andrew wyatt was in DC with brady barr trying to make sure no more snakes get listed. im very interested to hear what wyatts says about his efforts in DC and what he thinks will happen with the other 5

so after wyatts vist to DC with bardy barr, hb511 is on the move. dont know if the two events are connected but 511 hasnt moved since fedruary. it passed out of the house judiciary committee yesterday. good news is USFW isnt pushing it or backing it as far as i know. hopeful if usark plans on fighting this, they have learned from their mistakes in the past. 511 is going through the judicial process and it can be stopped. if USFW picks it up it will pass the same way the first 4 were added. if 511 makes it to the point that the original python ban did and usark lobbys senators to hold it, the sponsor of the bill will seek out the USFW to run with it and usark can not stop them. it is very important that the reptile industry learns from its mistakes and starts to fight this bill appropriately, instead of playing lobbying games that it dosnt have the financial capabilities to win.
