neonate indigos-getting started

VICtort Sep 22, 2012 12:31 PM

Dear breeders/keepers,

I wondered if any of you have tried live nightcrawlers/earth worms as a starter food for indigos and if they were accepted? They are popular food for water snakes/garter snakes, monitors, small earth snakes, etc. I have seen a reference to indigos eating invertebrates, but I can't figure out what that would be accept for worms, or maybe hoppers/cidadas?

Any reason to not offer nightcrawlers? I have a couple recalcitrant hatchlings that are thus far refusing the more typical faire of rodents/ gold fish, quail parts. your input is valued.

gratefully, Vic

Vic,

I have had neonate Dry's of all types take earthworms / night crawlers. Not as first meals but just to offer variety.
