Hi all

I´m really thinking of getting into Ctenosaura similis. Any of you have experience with them?
I know they are really common in many places, but they are pretty rare here in Denmark.

Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks

Jonas

They are cool, but tend to be shy and less personable than a cyclura. A female cyclura nubila will grow to about the same size as a big male similus and is easier to tame, and has much more personality.......no offense to the Ctenosaura fans...but that is my 2 cents.

Having observed them in the wild, the females are very inquisitive and the males are VERY cautious. When approached, adult males are the first ones to retreat to safety, followed eventually by the females. When traps are set out for them, females and smaller males will approach the trap and attempt to steal food from it, while adult males know better than to even bother and will stay far away from it.

I had one and they do bite. Very skitish that thing was. I fed mine insects every week which they can have more than Cyclura and salad everyday.

Ok thanks for the input.
I will build a big enclosure for them, around 3 x 2 meters floorspace and 2 meters high.
Will it be possible at all to tame them a little, if i get them as babies?

Thanks

Jonas

I haven't had him long enough. I gave him away because I would have had two large lizards to contend with... But Im' sure with frequent handlelings you can tame him.
