Moellendorffi delicate?

Jonasgn Oct 16, 2012 05:44 PM

Hi all

A few years ago, i looked into getting some moellendorffi. But didn´t because i kept hearing that they where very delicate and hard to keep alive.
They did best at low temps and small food items.

How much of this is true?
Maybe the reason was the many wc animals, so how are the cbb doing in captivity?

Thanks

Jonas

I find CBB animals are very hardy and easy to keep once they are well established.

There really isn't too much to their general husbandry, they are much like many other species in terms of temps and humidity.

Thanks a lot.

Do they need a nighttime drop in temp?

What is their avg/max size?
There are a lot of different info out there. Some say 1,8 meters others say 2,5 meters.

newborns can be very reluctant to feed, following a pattern very like mountain kingsnakes, some animals need to be cooled before they will start feeding, once they are started though they are very hardy.

Do a search on moellendorffi. There's a lot of good info in here.
