Savannah monitor question.

I recetly put in a whole bunch of ne diirt in my savys cage. He got bigger so i increaced the depth o te dirt and moved a few things around. I did this a couple of weeks ago and he still has yet to borrow into it. Any siggestions. He is about 2.5 feet long. Also, should i spray his cage fpr himidity? Or does te dirt take care of his humidity needs?
