Moving to Washington and need help

Katie2012 Oct 26, 2012 03:34 PM

Hello my name is Katie. I have a 3 month old Black and White Desert California Kingsnake named Cleo. I am moving to Washington soon and was only curious on how to keep her tank the temp she needs. It is quite cold in Washington and I dont want her getting sick or dying due to lack of heat or anything. Right now she is in a 30 gallon tank with a wood top. It has a small screen for the light that is on it. What should I do to keep it nice and warm for her during the winter when its dropping below 50 Degrees. Does anyone own a California Kingsnake in WA that can help me?

I live in Wa and keep various species of snakes one is an albino Cali king. Temps are not to hard between a heating pad and day and night lights. A lot will depend on your room temp. Also if you have a screen top, that will let out a lot of heat (you can always cover part with tinfoil or something) also a custom cage can help Aquairium type enclosures (glass, plexi, acrylic etc.) are not the most thermal effecient. I find that in general humidity to be trickier but replacing the screentop with something solid greatly improves that along with separating tank temp with the room temp.
