Splitfire59 Nov 26, 2012 09:03 PM

Is anyone still working with deckerts rats from Lloyd Lemke's bloodlines?

I don't know about Lloyd Lemke's old line, but Daniel Parker (Sunshine Serpents) is one of the very few people that I know of working with them. I bet many of Lemke's that used to be out there in the hobby have been inadvetently sold as "Everglades" rats over the years, etc...

Hey Doug, don't worry about it. Thank you for trying.

The problem with Deckerts is that they are an incredibly unsubstantiated form. If they get sold as Everglades rat snakes, it's because they're basically the same thing. Further compounding that, people tend to breed for the prettiest orange examples, and end up with what is basically a Glades rat.

I'm familiar with their (Deckerts) validity. I was just curious about that particular bloodline because I saw one in a friends collection, that was the deepest reddish orange of any glades/yellow rat I've ever seen. I know that's not typical for that area.

One of my Deckert's rats.

Nice. I have a male that is a little lighter than that.
